About Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the best way to replace missing teeth both aesthetically and functionally. Implants are small metal screws designed specifically to replace your natural tooth root. Manufactured from titanium, dental implants provide a highly biocompatible surface encouraging bone to attach to the implant during the healing process to ensure long term results. Restoration with all ceramic components (crown and abutment) can result in beautiful natural looking teeth, just like the teeth being replaced.

Implant restoration can provide a more advanced replacement for missing teeth than a traditional bridge, and preserve adjacent teeth. In addition, we can avoid a removable denture which will compromise the ability to chew food as well as alter aesthetic facial structure. Implants are also useful for edentulous (toothless) patients who need a complete denture. Implants can dramatically improve the function and stability of the denture allowing for optimal chewing function.

Here at Precision Dental, Dr. Yang places implants surgically using the Noble Biocare implant system (www.nobelbiocare.com).  The surgery only takes one hour to complete and many patients experience about one day recovery.  In addition to implant surgery, Dr. Yang also performs procedures such as bone grafts and sinus lifts. Bone grafts are used for ridge augmentation and socket preservation for an extraction site. Sinus lifts are for patients with a ridge defect or have sinus space encroachment that might not be able to have implant otherwise.  The bone grafts we use are Puros from Zimmer (www.zimmerdental.com).

Implant Support Over Denture

An Over denture is a very affordable way to provide a satisfactory result for restoring an edentulous condition.   It uses two implants for mandible, and two to four implants for maxilla to support a conventional complete denture.  After the implants have been integrated with host bone tissue, the female part of abutments will be screwed onto the implant and the male part of the housing will be embedded into denture.  In other words, the denture will be “buttoned up” with jaws and it will greatly increase denture stability and function.
