The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends all children to have a dental check up every 6 months.
Cleanings
Children cleaning start during toddler years.
Special instruments are used to remove plaque and tarter. We will also review brushing and flossing technique.
X-rays
In addition to detecting cavities, x-ray are needed to diagnose developmental problems, bone disease, and plan for orthodontic treatment.
The amount of radiation from dental x-rays is extremely small.

Topical Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride is a natural element that prevents tooth decay. It reduces mineral loss in teeth and minimizes acid damage from bacteria.
Children with high risk for decay will benefit from topical fluoride treatment.
Sealants
Sealants can “seal off” tiny grooves and pits in certain teeth that are difficult to clean even with careful brushing and flossing.
Sealant application is quick and simple. After the tooth is cleaned and dried, sealant is added to the tooth and allowed to harden with a special light.
